Before Greensward, I kept the irrigation running at one of Jersey's golf courses — five years of early mornings learning what fine turf actually needs, and how rarely a timer gets it right. From there I moved into financial services, where I spent more than a decade building automation for systems that have to make decisions reliably, unattended, every day. Greensward brings those two lives together: a greenkeeper's judgement, delivered with the discipline of systems built for finance.

The idea began with a frustration I couldn't shake: most lawns are watered by habit, not by need. Too much water, applied on a schedule, invites the very diseases we then treat with chemicals. The lawn is watered into sickness; the ground is dosed to cure it. I find that backwards. Get the water right, exactly what the soil needs and exactly when it needs it, and most of the chemistry never becomes necessary. That is better for the lawn, and better for the island it grows on.

Greensward exists to use a shared resource well. It waters on evidence rather than habit: soil sensors at root depth, live island weather, and a safety system that checks every decision before a drop of water moves, and it keeps a plain-English account of what it did and why, readable over morning coffee. It is built to be precise, preventive and quietly dependable, and it answers to the people it serves: your garden, your data, your decisions.
